Pace Yourself, Don’t Wear out Fitness.

We are approaching the 72-hour mark into the TriSystem EDGE Challenge.  Not even 3 full days into the TriSystem Challenge and participants are really making  strides to reset attitudes, mood and mindset toward an  incredible transformation.  Check out how most challenge participants are verifying their points:

Is There Really Brain Food?

For those of you who missed it, here is the April 2nd news spot on San Diego Living, Channel 6

 (see the video here)

We’ve all had those days when we just feel like our brain is in a fog.  And while there’s no magic pill (or is there?) to bring us back to the height of our cognitive powers, there are some foods and nutrients that have been shown to improve brain function, protect against age-associated cognitive decline and encourage focus and clarity.  But before you dismiss the diet-brain connection let me tell you there has been study after study that has found a relationship between what we put in our mouths and how well we can perform important thinking and memory tasks. While certain nutrients may specifically assist brain function, there is also the totality of our diets to consider. Also, several well-regarded studies have shown that meal timing is an important predictor of performance.

For example, research shows that eating breakfast can improve the memory and acquisition skills of schoolchildren. In a finding sure to fuel the debate over the harms of saturated fat, researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital published a study last year suggesting that saturated fats — found in red meat and full-fat dairy products — causes the brain to age more rapidly than other kinds of fat. Olive oil, avocado, and other monounsaturated fats appear to slow brain aging.

I’ve put together the top brain foods — tell me Friday if any have made a difference for you. We all could use a little extra oomph up there?

·         Walnuts help promote blood flow, which in turn allows for efficient delivery of oxygen to the brain.

·         Olive oil is a great source of monounsaturated fat, which has been shown to actually slow brain aging.

·         Berries –  Neuro-research found that a diet high in blueberries, strawberries and others were linked to a slower mental decline in areas like memory and focus in a large sample of middle-aged women.

·         Fatty fish like sardines and salmon are a well-known brain booster, thanks to the omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, which have been linked to lower risk of dementia, improved focus and memory.

·         Spinach is rich in the antioxidant lutein, which is thought to help protect against cognitive decline, according to researchers from Tufts University.

·         Avocados are full of monounsaturated fats that improve vascular health and blood flow, making them another brain food.

·         Water – When a person becomes dehydrated, their brain tissue actually shrinks. And several studies have shown that dehydration can affect cognitive function.  Dehydration can impair short-term memory, focus and decision making.

·         Garlic may help stave off some forms of brain cancer, according to research published in Cancer, the medical journal of the American Cancer Society. Investigators found that the organo-sulfur compounds in garlic actually worked to kill brain cancer cells.

The key to successfully implementing these foods for effectiveness is in balancing them.  Remember, too much of a good thing is a bad thing.  At the Seminar Friday, we will talk about how to combine these foods and other herbs and botanicals for optimal brain function.

Over decades of study and working with thousands of clients, I’ve developed a single product that has a key all-natural combination affecting Mood. Metabolism and Recovery as it says on the bottle

It all starts on my birthday, this Friday, April 5th at a FREE seminar in San Diego where San Diego 6 viewers can get a chance to enter to receive all of this free.  All views have to do is register at www.trisystem.info/san-diego-6. That enters you in a drawing to be announced at the seminar.  More information about the location is on that page.  It starts at 6:30. I hope to see you there!

It’s Time to Resurrect Your Summer Body

Christmas to EasterIt seems like just yesterday we were opening Christmas presents, celebrating Jesus’ birth.  Yesterday reminded us He already died and rose again because family has gathered at my home again, opening Easter eggs.  Four months went by quick and tax season is almost over.  I can remember as a kid just watching the clock, begging it to speed up.  Now, I’m looking for the brakes, hanging on to every second, wishing it would just slow down.

Well wishing is a start.  Let’s make one wish a reality together.  With Resurrection day already behind us, there is 7 weeks until the summer season begins.  That’s right, Memorial day is just around the corner and last year we did a great “7 weeks to a Swimsuit Summer” program.  The success rate of that program was great.  Many people were swimsuit ready because of that program.

This year, we have something even better:  The TriSystem EDGE Challenge.  This program is so good, it will motivate you to do a better job in just 6 weeks rather than 7 and there is rewards and a party at the end.  If you’ve just not gotten where you’ve wanted to be.  If you want to have the best summer ever, then spring into summer with me. Spring into summer This is the perfect opportunity to make the changes you’ve wanted to make.  Whether it is to get off the couch, get into that teeny-two-piece or break a world record, this challenge centers around personal change, motivation and real transformation.

This new program is so unique, I’ve been interviewed on the news!  Check out this Easter Morning Interview on San Diego Channel 6.

They were supposed to show a special link for San Diego 6 viewers.  They showed what they get, but never showed the link.  Well, if you watched it here, then you should get the link as well, right?  It’s only fair.  Here it is:  http://www.trisystem.info/san-diego-6Just register there and I’ll see you Friday night.  You could get the program for free and then win the money and prizes.  Now that would be the perfect way to start your summer off, wouldn’t it?

Some viewers don’t believe she lost her EDGE…

Everyone’s a critic.  In my quest to visually demonstrate a tired, fatigued, loss-of-edge person, I chose this now famous women on the couch.  It looks like she is a mom who is fitness conscious, but just not feeling it.  I chose this one because i think more people can relate.

Here are some other ones.  Which one do you like? Can you relate or not?

See you Friday night, April 5th…

Do you know someone who is in a bad mood?

It seems like one thing after another is just getting in the way of people being happy these days. I’d say the feeling of contentment is less this decade than last.

bad mood

Were things better in 2000 or 2005 than now?

Were things better in 2010 than now?

Did you have more money and less worries then? Were you in better shape? More energetic? What’s going on today? Between the economy, the president, the supreme court and everyone else, it just seems like you’re more likely to get rude behavior in the store and the middle finger on the road. I see it in my clients. They complain about their bank account, their family problems and the poor genetics God gave them forcing them to have to exercise and eat foods they hate.

I feel like I’m in jail. I can’t do the things I want, have the things I should have and I’m just worried about what’s coming next.” -During a client’s initial assessment.

Can you relate? Do you see a trend? Ice cream and liquor sales increase almost exactly opposite of the stock market. As the unemployment rate rises, so does the consumption of comfort food and hours spent on the couch.

happy pill

So what is the solution? Is there a “healthy-happy-pill?”

Find out the answer and start your Friday night with me on April 5th at 6:30 – 7710 Balboa Ave. San Diego, Ca 92111. I promise, you’ll leave with a smile on your face and a strategy for getting and staying in a good mood. Fitness Doesn’t Work for Me!

Hey TriSystem friends:

I have some important news.  I haven’t posted in a long time, and after weeks of  reflection and contemplation, It’s time to make some changes.   After over 25 years of studying, research, thousands of client assessments, programs developed and literally hundreds of thousands of body fats measured, I’ve come to a conclusion:

Fitness just doesn’t work for some people!  Why?

I’ve seen diligent clients do more than  other clients around them.  They seem to be eating right and working out regularly and just be discouraged by their lack of results.  They force themselves to eat strict and rarely miss a workout while others eat haphazardly and miss exercise sessions with better results.  It just doesn’t seem fair!

I hate Exercise

  • “Why is this so hard for me?”

  • “I only eat healthy, nothing that really tastes good and I’m not losing like the cookie eater over there, WHY??”

  • “I hate exercise, but, I do it anyway because I have to.”

  • “The gym is full of self centered mirror-lovers. I hate the mirror.”

Regardless of diligence and discipline, regardless of how technologically advanced your workout routine or how clean and pure your eating is, there is one factor that influences success in fitness more than any other.  I’ve discovered and proven it in my years of experience and it’s time to share my discovery…

Mood

Simply stated it is MOOD.

Don’t discount this.

Let me explain.  There is specific physiology and psychology that govern regenerative processes in the body that directly correlates to feeling energetic, optimistic and finally happy.  This means that you can’t just like the idea of fitness, you have to embrace the process to the point of enjoying what it takes to be healthy and fit and finally, you have to accurately think of yourself as a fit person.

So if you are forcing yourself to get fit or think what you want is just unachievable or deep down,  you think fitness is  fleeting or temporary, then you’ll never achieve your goal of getting there, regardless of what type of exercise or nutrition plan you are following.

How many of us have been in better shape than they are now?  Most of us! Why is that?

It is because of our mindset right now.  It is because of our mood and attitude.  I have observed very similar clients with similar goals get very different results because they approached fitness and life with a different mindset.  This has been shown time and time again in research.  Those who had the right psychology had a definitive advantage in beating a life threatening disease, surviving a disaster or even surviving combat.

So ho can we get this “right psychology” and thus develop our mood and mind-set and develop the right attitude?

I can confidently say I’m in better shape at 45 than I was at 20, 30 or 40.  I can confidently say I’m in better shape than when I was an active duty Marine Officer, 20 years after the fact.  Shouldn’t the aging process count against me?  Shouldn’t the economy, loss of family and friends to cancer and an uncertain future drive me down?

It is expected that it should by many today, but it should not.  Armed with these specific methods and nutrients  that constantly refresh my mood, my metabolism, my recovery from daily stresses and ultimately change my attitude and mindset for a successful and fit life, I’ve busted through several fitness plateaus, injuries and other invisible roadblocks to my success.

It is time for you to bust through your roadblocks as well.  It is time to be better and get an EDGE on life.

Meet me on April 5th, my birthday, to start your plateau busting springtime transformation.  I promise, this will be different than anything you’ve done before.  I’m not asking you to abandon your favorite gym or your current fitness program.  I’m asking you to get the most out of them.  I’m asking you to take this journey with me through a six week program that will make you better and keep making you better.  Be your own experiment and prove  that this works.  It did for me.  Will you join me?

Preregister now in the form below, seats are limited for this free 1 hour seminar.  Everyone who preregisters will get a secret discount code for the six week challenge course.
